Peat trays are small square (or round) trays made of compressed wood fibers, limestone, and peat. They are inexpensive and very handy. They allow you to grow plants, allowing you to place them directly in the ground. Follow the steps below to grow your plants properly using peat trays.

Step 1: Sowing

Peat boxes are usually connected to each other in large numbers. If you don't need them all (right away), you can separate them by simply breaking them. However, keep in mind that you can't break them off one by one. If you put them down separately, they will fall over.

Put a little soil in the bottom of the peat tray and place the seed on it. Check the seed packaging to see how deep the seed may be placed. Press the seed down a little and cover with a layer of soil.

Step 2: Moving peat boxes

It is best to place your peat trays with the seeds in a plastic polytunnel, so that the seeds are sure to stay warm. You can also place them indoors near a window. Write on the trays what you have sown, so that you can remember this. You can also use signs or labels.

Step 3: Turn off

If you see roots coming out of the bottom of the peat pots, you know that your plant has grown enough and can be planted. You can also choose to place the pots directly in the ground, as they are completely biodegradable.
